We are proud to announce that our firm had the privilege of advising Rolling Energy on its landmark partnership with the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for the establishment of CNG workshop stations across Nigeria and the training of Nigerians in the adoption and usage of CNG-powered vehicles.
This transformative initiative, championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to revolutionize Nigeria’s transportation sector. With a target of over 11,500 new CNG-enabled vehicles and 55,000 CNG conversion kits for existing PMS-dependent vehicles, the program not only reduces reliance on petrol but also strengthens in-country manufacturing, supports local assembly, and drives expansive job creation in line with the Presidential directive.
The creation of a nationwide network of CNG workshops will guarantee widespread access to reliable conversion services and ensure that Nigerian motorists can seamlessly transition to CNG. Beyond infrastructure, this project will also build a new generation of local expertise, further embedding the skills and technical know-how needed to sustain the growth of clean energy mobility in Nigeria.
Importantly, Nigerians are encouraged to embrace CNG as a safe, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to petrol. While some initial concerns exist around safety, global experience and local pilot projects confirm that CNG is not only environmentally friendly but also safe for daily use, with rigorous standards and safety mechanisms in place. Indeed, countries across the world have successfully adopted CNG, and Nigeria is well-positioned to replicate and even surpass these successes.
This bold step signals the beginning of a new era for Nigeria’s transport economy, one that prioritizes cleaner energy, affordability, sustainability, and national prosperity.
